Argentina
OUR ARGENTINIAN WINES
Argentina is the second largest wine producer in the world and makes large amounts of wine for everyday drinking together with some seriously good quality wines from recognised varieties. The influence in Argentina seems to have been from Italy as there are significant plantings of Sangiovese, Barbera and Bonarda; however, the main red grape is the Malbec and for white wine the spicy Torrontés.
The main wine region is Mendoza east of the Andes and to the south east in Patagonia, the cool climate region of Rio Negro produces significant amounts of quality wine.
