COVID UPDATE - Message from EWGA's MD, Adrian Moeckell

Message from Adrian Moeckell, MD at EWGA

Firstly, I would like to send our best wishes to all our customers at this unpredictable and testing time thanking you for your continued support. EWGA has continued to trade through the COVID-19 crisis and in doing so implemented a set of guidelines for our staff to continue to work safely in a socially distanced manner in our offices, warehouses and when carrying out deliveries, keeping both our driver and customer safe.

At EWGA Wines we are pleased to be able to retain all of our colleagues. Whilst many are furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Protection Scheme our reduced team are still available should you need to get in touch. We have adapted and added new means of contact, using online software to communicate with our staff and suppliers.

We have been busy contacting our customers to discover the effects of COVID-19 on their business and where EWGA may help, rearranging events, rescheduling tastings and postponing orders for specific events.

During this time we have had the chance to review each system and process, asking "Can we do this better?”. Where possible we are changing to paperless systems as part of our mission to become a carbon-neutral Centre of Excellence in partnership with Lancaster University’s innovation forum.

We have started to share online training content with our customer’s who are learning and improving their wine knowledge whilst being on furlough. In working with our talented winemakers around the world to create video wine tastings from their wineries, tasting rooms and vineyards our aim is to make learning exciting and engaging. Who could give a better wine tasting than the winemaker themselves surrounded by their vines?

Coronavirus hasn’t stopped vines growing and the work in vineyards and wineries is continuing. We are in constant contact with our suppliers to ensure that the wines we need when we are able to fully reopen are available.

Our sales team have been completing online training courses, covering wine regions all over the world, learning about planting yields in the famous Champagne region to studying maps of the Napa Valley in California.

With the challenges facing the hospitality industry, we have had to diversify and open up new forms of revenue and have created a new home delivery service. We are more active online than ever on social media and our website, at You should place orders online, but can phone 01524 737100, or email us at

We look forward to the reopening of our unique hospitality industry and continuing to support our customer’s hotels, restaurants, pubs, sports clubs and venues we are all missing.

Wishing you all well and stay safe,
