Chateau Kamnik

Chateau Kamnik is one of North Macedonia’s most distinctive boutique wineries, crafting ambitious, characterful wines from its estate vineyards on the edge of Skopje. Blending Macedonian identity with a modern fine-wine approach, the estate is known for expressive reds, meticulous winemaking and a premium style that brings a fresh perspective to any wine list.

About Chateau Kamnik

Founded in 2004 and first harvested in 2008, Chateau Kamnik is part of a new generation of quality-focused Macedonian wineries helping to bring international attention back to one of Europe’s oldest wine cultures. The winery sits at the eastern entrance to Skopje, in the Skopje Wine Region of the Vardar Valley, where 17 hectares of vineyards stretch across south-facing hills at around 300 metres above sea level.

What sets Kamnik apart is its combination of place and precision. The surrounding mountains help shape a favourable microclimate, while the cellar follows a meticulous, quality-led approach with temperature-controlled fermentation, separate handling by variety, extended barrel ageing and further bottle ageing before release. Whites may be worked sur lie, while reds are matured for extended periods in French and American oak barriques.

Kamnik has also built a strong international reputation through its awards. A defining moment came in 2013, when Terroir Vranec Grand Reserva 2011 won a Gold Medal and the Regional Trophy for Central and Eastern Europe at the Decanter World Wine Awards, underlining the winery’s growing importance for both North Macedonia and the Vranec grape.

Chateau Kamnik in the UK

EWGA Wines brings Chateau Kamnik to the UK as a distinctive addition to the range, offering bottles that are rarely seen here and give buyers something genuinely different to pour.

What makes Kamnik especially relevant for EWGA is the story behind it. The relationship began when our Managing Director, Adrian Moeckell, visited North Macedonia with a scouting group and was introduced to the winery by a local mountain guide. Impressed by what he saw and tasted, he arranged to import a mixed pallet of the wines to the UK.

For hospitality, wholesale and trade customers, Chateau Kamnik offers real point of difference: premium wines from a lesser-seen origin, backed by serious winemaking, international recognition and a story that stands out on a list. For customers looking beyond the familiar, North Macedonia is a conversation starter, and Kamnik gives that curiosity real substance in the glass.

Wine Range

EWGA’s Chateau Kamnik range showcases the winery’s distinctive style, from textured whites to structured, cellar-worthy reds. The selection highlights the estate’s precision in the cellar and its ability to produce wines with both character and clear sense of place, giving hospitality, wholesale and trade customers something genuinely different to offer in the UK. The current range includes eight Chateau Kamnik wines on the EWGA shop.
